What If There Isn't a Social Pickleball Session Tonight?
No problem.

Court hire lets you choose from available booking times and organise your own game.
So if there isn’t a social session tonight:
Book a court instead.
Bring:
Your partner
A friend
Another couple
Workmates
Family members
Your regular pickleball group
Northside’s court-hire information currently states that paddles are included with pickleball court hire, making it easier for new players to try the sport without purchasing equipment first.
I Don't Own a Pickleball Paddle. Can I Still Play?
Yes.
If you’re booking a pickleball court, Northside currently includes paddles with the court hire.
For organised social sessions, paddles are also available to hire, subject to availability.
That means a spontaneous decision to try pickleball tonight doesn’t necessarily require a trip to the sports shop first.
Essentially:
Book → arrive → grab a paddle → play.
Do I Need Pickleball Shoes?
Northside Badminton Centre is an indoor venue, so suitable non-marking indoor court shoes are required.
The centre states that black-soled and unsuitable marking footwear isn’t permitted on its badminton and pickleball courts.
Don’t have indoor court shoes?
Shoe hire is currently available for $6, subject to availability. Social-session information also states that shoe hire is free for eligible members.
Can Beginners Play Pickleball at Northside?
Yes.
You don’t need years of racquet-sport experience to enjoy pickleball.
Northside describes its pickleball facilities as suitable for players from beginners through to experienced players, while its social sessions are intended to provide a welcoming environment for different skill levels.
Pickleball is particularly appealing if you’re looking for something social that can be picked up relatively quickly.
Your first session doesn’t need to be perfect.
You just need to get on court.

If you’re joining an organised social pickleball session, coming alone can actually be one of the best reasons to join.
Social sessions give people an opportunity to:
